Can-Am X3 vs Maverick R: What's Different When It Comes to Accessories?
The Can-Am Maverick R is not an updated version of the X3. It's a completely different platform — different chassis, dash, dimensions, and architecture. If you're upgrading from an X3 to a Maverick R, or building both, almost nothing from your X3 accessory setup transfers directly.
Here's what changes and what you need to know before you buy anything.
The Dash and Console Are Completely Different
The X3 and Maverick R have different dash layouts, different switch locations, and different mounting points. Mounts machined for the X3 do not fit the Maverick R — and vice versa. Every Reed Made Speed mount is machined specifically for one platform.
The Maverick R also uses a push start button rather than the DESS key system used in the X3. When you install a Switch-Pros system in the Maverick R, the factory push start button location is freed up — and our billet aluminum push start button plug fills that opening cleanly.
Switch-Pros Mounts: Different for Each Platform
Both the X3 and Maverick R can run Switch-Pros systems, but the mounts are completely different parts. Make sure you're ordering the right one for your vehicle. For a deep dive on the Maverick R install specifically, read Can-Am Maverick R Switch-Pros Mount: The Cleanest Install on the Market.

Console Plugs: Different Parts, Same Purpose
Both platforms leave an open hole in the console when you install a Switch-Pros system, but the holes are different sizes and shapes.
On the X3, it's the DESS key port. The DESS system must be relocated (not removed — it's required to start the vehicle and must always be mounted in plastic). Our X3 DESS Block Off Plug fills the original port after relocation.
On the Maverick R, it's the push start button opening. Our Maverick R Push Start Button Plug fills that opening cleanly.
Door Handles: X3 Only
Our billet aluminum door handles are currently available only for the Can-Am X3. The Maverick R uses a different door design, and our X3 handles do not fit.
Ground Blocks: Same Product, Both Platforms
Our Switch-Pros ground blocks work with both the X3 and Maverick R. The ground block connects to your Switch-Pros system and your battery — it's not vehicle-specific, it's system-specific. Choose based on your Switch-Pros unit, not your vehicle.
Which Switch-Pros System Should You Run?
The Maverick R is a more capable platform and tends to attract more heavily accessorized builds. If you're planning a full build with lights, winch, audio, air compressor, and more, the RCR's 17 outputs and 150A capacity give you room to grow. If you're running a more focused accessory list, the 9100 handles it cleanly.
